The Greatest Game Ever Played, directed by Bill Paxton, recounts one of the great unsung sports victories in American history: that of Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf), the 20 year-old, working class golfer who shocked the world at the 1913 U.S Open where, flanked by his 10-year-old caddie, he took on his idol, the seasoned British champ Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane), in an extraordinary match-up that jump started the country's passion for golf.
