Scarlett Johansson will star in the independent film Napoleon and Betsy, which Benjamin Ross will write and direct, reports Variety. Avi Lerner, Moshe Diamant, Melanie Johansson and Alexandra Milchan are producing.
The movie centers on the true story of Napoleon's last years on St. Helena as seen through the eyes of an English girl with whom he falls in love.
Napoleon and Betsy was first pitched nearly two years ago and at one time was set up at Lions Gate Films
Johansson recently signed on to the Weinstein Co.'s big screen adaptation of bestseller "The Nanny Diaries," as well as Signature Pictures' "Amazon" and Neil Jordan's upcoming "Borgia." |
