Miramax is developing a biographical film of Timothy Leary for the bigscreen after snapping up rights to the upcoming tome "Timothy Leary: A Biography" by Robert Greenfield this week, reports Variety.
Scribe Bill Wheeler (Miramax's "The Hoax") has been tapped to adapt; he'll also serve as a co-producer.
Greenfield's book tells the story of how Leary, a Harvard professor, rose to become a prominent voice of the 1960s anti-establishment movement.
Greenfield is a former associate editor of Rolling Stone's U.K. operation and also the author of the books "S.T.P.: A Journey Through America With the Rolling Stones," "Bill Graham Presents: My Life Inside Rock and Out" and "Dark Star: An Oral Biography of Jerry Garcia."
