Brad Anderson will direct Trans-Siberian for Filmax, the Barcelona-based studio announced Tuesday.

Set on the legendary express train as it travels from China to Moscow, the dark thriller is Anderson's second teaming with Filmax, which financed and produced his "The Machinist," toplining Christian Bale and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Trans-Siberian follows an American couple who board the train, make the acquaintance of a Russian police inspector on the trail of the killers of a drug dealer and are gradually immersed in Anderson's hallmark world of enclosed spaces, deception, grimy moral motives and murder.
