According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sean Astin and Powers Boothe have signed on to top-line the sports-themed indie The Final Season for State of Mind Films and producer Michael Wasserman's Fobia Films.

"Season" is based on the true story of the Norway, Iowa, high school baseball team that overcame daunting odds to become a powerhouse in the sport for more than two decades. Directed by David Mickey Evans, the story chronicles the small-town team's unprecedented run of 19 state championships in 23 years.

Astin will play assistant coach Kent Stock, while Boothe will play coach Jim Van Scoyoc.
