Paramount Pictures and MTV Films have acquired Ned Vizzini's young-adult novel IT'S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY for Misher Films to produce, says The Hollywood Reporter. Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden are adapting, with Fleck attached to direct.
The story is described as a young-adult "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and centers on a clinically depressed 15-year-old who checks himself into an adult psychiatric ward where he gains a new lease on life.
