Raymond De Felitta is directing STREET OF DREAMS, a RogerTowne script based on the true story of Japanese-American gangster Montana Joe, reports Variety.
Japan's Kinema Motion Pictures is fully financing the $25 million-$30 million English-language pic, to be shot in Los Angeles later this year.
The film will explore the isolation and oppression of Japanese immigrants in the California valley farm communities during the Depression; the internment of Japanese Americans during the 1940s and their role in the U.S. military during WWII; and Japanese gambling culture.
