Helmer David R. Ellis ("Snakes on a Plane") will direct ASYLUM for Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment, which is producing and fully financing the pic, reports Variety.

Film is set to start filming later this year.

Based on a script by Ethan Lawrence, story is about a group of college freshmen who learn that their dorm was once a notorious asylum.
