Paul Walker (Fast and the Furious), is in negotiations for the lead role in the Mandeville-produced Disney rescue feature, Antarctica to be directed by Frank Marshall.
The film is a fact-based story that follows two explorers who head toward Antarctica in search of a meteorite but are forced to leave their sled dogs and turn back. Walker plays a National Geographic reporter who retraces his steps with a rescue team.
According to Variety, Disney put the film on hold last year because there wasn't sufficient snow in its Greenland location, but producers expect a suitably white backdrop in Vancouver and northern British Columbia when shooting begins this winter.
