German helmer Christian Alvart is in talks to direct Renee Zellweger in Paramount Pictures' horror thriller CASE 39, reports Variety.

Pic is due to start lensing this summer in Vancouver. Penned by Ray Wright, story centers on a social worker who saves an abused girl from her parents, but later discovers things are not as they seem.

Alvart previously directed the film "Antibodies," which premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival.
