Spyglass Entertainment has set Tony Award winner Dan Fogler to star in the comedy SPANKY JOHNSON: MONSTER HUNTER after preemptively snapping up David Berenbaum's spec script, reports Variety.
Story revolves around a man who has been ridiculed his entire life for having a father who claims to be a monster hunter. But when his father dies and he takes over the unusual business, he learns it may not be a lie after all.
Fogler, who won his Tony for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," inked deals to star in the Weinstein Co.'s "Fanboys," the Todd Phillips-directed "School of Scoundrels" and indie pic "The Marconi Brothers." He'll also provide the lead voice for Disney animated pic "Rapunzel Unbraided."
