Source: Variety Lionsgate is in final negotiations to pick up the comedy GOOD LUCK CHUCK, which stalled at New Line, keeping Dane Cook in the lead role, reports Variety. Mike Karz is producing. Josh Stolberg ("Evan Almighty") penned the script. Mark Helfrich, hired last year by New Line to make his directorial debut, will remain with the project as well. GOOD LUCK CHUCK is rumored to have stalled at New Line over casting of the female lead. Lionsgate, which is eyeing a July start date, reportedly is considering Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel, among other thesps. Story revolves around a handsome but self-involved dentist who discovers that every woman he goes out with meets her soul mate immediately after dating him, keeping him free to continue playing the field. But the blessing turns into a curse when he meets his true love. |
