Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies have picked up the kid film pitch MAYFLY from writing team Leo Benvenuti and Steve Rudnick, reports Variety.

The insects have a very short lifespan, with some living only for one day. Story concerns a mayfly who accidentally oversleeps and, with the help of a tortoise friend, discovers the value of living for the moment. Concept puts the opposing lifespans of the two creatures into play since tortoises often live close to 100 years.
