Variety reports that Dennis Quaid, Rachel Weisz and Thomas Haden Church will star in
SMART PEOPLE, with director Noam Murro beginning production Nov. 6 in Pittsburgh. Mark Poirier wrote the script.
Quaid will play a professor whose wife's death has turned him into a bitter eccentric. He learns to reconnect with people after falling for a former student.
Murro, a commercials director who was named DGA director of the year in 2005 for his blurb work, has been attached to several film projects but makes his feature debut on this one. Poirier, author of the novels "Goats" and "Modern Ranch Living," makes his screenwriting bow.
