Disney has acquired ANIMATED AMERICAN, a film that will use a mix of live-action and animation to illustrate the difficulty teens experience trying to fit in, reports Variety.

Bob Cooper's Landscape Entertainment and ImageMovers partners Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke will produce.

Peter Ackerman will pen the script, about a misfit who's at sea when his girlfriend leaves town after graduation and he's forced to find himself. Protag will be animated, while the world around him will be live-action.

That mix was employed by Zemeckis and Disney in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." Zemeckis and Rapke recently moved their ImageMovers label from DreamWorks to an overall deal at Disney.

Cooper most recently produced John Tucker Must Die at Fox and New Line's upcoming Mr. Woodcock.
