Studio subsidiary Paramount Vantage has acquired Alan McElroy's script FRACTURE for development. It is looking to attach a director soon, says The Hollywood Reporter.

A psychological thriller, FRACTURE centers on a husband whose family disappears into the inner workings of a hospital emergency room seemingly never to return.

Producing partners Mike Macari and Neal Edelstein ("The Ring") will produce the film. The duo is behind the upcoming film "The Invisible" for Touchstone Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment, set for release in January. They also are in preproduction on the horror film "Amusement" for Picturehouse and New Line.

McElroy is the screenwriter behind 20th Century Fox's recently released The Marine.
