"Coach Carter" director Thomas Carter will helm Freedom House for Warner Bros. Pictures, reports Variety.

"House" is based on the story of Freedom House Enterprises, an organization that trained residents of Pittsburgh's poorest neighborhood to become the first modern-day paramedics.

Stephen David wrote the script, which was then rewritten by "Barbershop"scribe Don Scott.

Carter's credits include "Save the Last Dance" and "Swing Kids."
